Washington, D.C. — The 50501 movement condemns the United States and Israel’s war of aggression against Iran and demands that Congress pass the Iran War Powers Resolution to block further unconstitutional strikes. As the 50501 movement stands in solidarity with the Iranian people against authoritarianism and imperialism, we are working with MoveOn and Win Without War to organize the Iran in Focus: Stop Trump’s War mass call TODAY, March 2nd, at 7 PM ET.
End Endless Wars
On February 28th, 2026, the United States and Israel launched a joint attack on Iran, reportedly killing over 200 people and injuring hundreds more, including students at a girls’ elementary school in Minab. In response, Iran has launched retaliatory strikes at airports, U.S. military bases, and other buildings in Bahrain, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Israel’s illegal settlements in the West Bank, killing dozens of people, including at least three U.S. service members.
The Trump administration launched this strike without congressional approval or Iranian provocation, violating both international law and the Constitution. While some Iranians may want U.S. intervention, this administration is not remotely concerned with the liberation of the Iranian people. Instead, it is aiming to start another endless war in the Middle East to support Israel’s genocidal regime. These strikes are a crime against the Iranian people, yet another obstacle to Iranian self-determination and yet another example of outrageous and unchecked authoritarian overreach.
“Trump is working with a genocidal regime to start another bloody war in the Middle East,” said 50501 National Press Coordinator Hunter Dunn. “People everywhere have the right to self-determination, but Iranians cannot exercise that right from under thousands of pounds of rubble.”
No One is Free Until Everyone is Free
Trump is using everyday Iranians, who were already suffering under heavy U.S. sanctions, as pawns in service of his agenda at home to seize ultimate power. He has already lied and claimed that the attacks on Iran were in response to “Iranian interference” in the 2020 election, and MAGA activists have been circulating a draft executive order declaring an unconstitutional state of emergency and seizing control over the 2026 midterm elections.
“Every crime Trump commits against the Iranian people will find its way back home,” said Voices of Florida Executive Director and 50501 National Coordinator Sarah Parker. “If we the people and our elected representatives do not stand up to this administration, Trump will use this war on Iran to try to stay in power. He was already aiming to use the SAVE Act to disenfranchise millions of women, trans people, and Black and brown people nationwide; now, he has a pretext to militarize around elections and arrest anyone he deems as undesirable.”
Rapid Response
On February 29th, the 50501 movement mobilized with “No War On Iran!” coalition for rapid response protests and will continue to support rapid response mobilizations this week. At the same time, 50501, in partnership with MoveOn and Win Without War, has organized Iran in Focus: Stop Trump’s War, a mass call intended to educate the public and organizers about the nuances of the situation on the ground in Iran and to launch a nationwide push against this war today, March 2nd, at 7 PM ET. You can register for the mass call at this link.
50501 is also organizing a campaign to call and write letters to elected representatives around the country urging them to vote YES on the Iran War Powers Resolution. For more information on our letter-writing campaign, you can visit our action network link.
50501 is a non-violent, grassroots movement that organizes mass protests and mutual aid to defend democracy against fascism. To find more information about 50501, visit our website at fiftyfifty.one.
